This course provides test engineers with advanced skills in test analysis, design and execution. This hands-on course provides test engineers with the ability to define and carry out the tasks required to put the test strategy into action. The course will teach attendees how to analyze the system, taking into account the user’s quality expectations. They will learn how to evaluate system requirements as part of formal and informal reviews, using their understanding of the business domain to determine requirement validity. Attendees will know how to analyze, design, implement and execute tests, using risk considerations to determine the appropriate effort and priority for tests. They will be able to report on testing progress and provide the necessary evidence to support their evaluations of system quality. Attendees will learn how to implement a testing effort that supports the explicit and implicit testing objectives.

This certification is aimed at anyone interested in the topic of software testing, who has already been working in the sector for a few years and wants to develop their skills further. It is particularly suitable for:

  • Software testers
  • Test analysts, test developers, test managers
  • Software developers
  • Project managers, quality managers, development managers, economic analysts

English knowledge and the ISTQB Foundation Level certificate is a prerequisite to take the ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager exam, but non-certificate holders can take and benefit from the course.

The e-learning is based on the 2012 version of the ISTQB Test Analyst syllabus. From February 2021, only the new version of the exam is available. Its content is 90% covered by e-learning, but we definitely recommend reading the 2019 version of the Test Analyst syllabus and reviewing the updated sample exams on the ISTQB website.
The main difference between the two versions is that some topics have been removed from the exam content, so the new version has been shortened. Another important change is that the standard ISO9126 has been replaced by the newer standard ISO25010. Details can be read below:

  • Course duration: The overall course duration is reduced from 4 days to 3 days as a result of the changes listed below.
  • The Test Analyst’s tasks in the Test Process Chapter 1: Scoping and consistency with the Foundation Core syllabus (Version 2018). Some sections removed and others modified.
  • Test management activities: Scoping and consistency with the Foundation Core syllabus (Version 2018) [CTFL] and Advanced Level Core Test Manager. Some sections removed.
  • Test techniques Chapter 3: Some techniques removed as a result of feedback from the stakeholder survey.
  • Testing Software Quality characteristics Chapter 4: Adoption of ISO 25010 as the principal standard referred to. Scoping and consistency with specialist module on usability testing
  • Test Tools & Automation Chapter 6: Scoping and consistency with the ISTQB® Test Automation Engineer Advanced Level module
  • Defect Management: This chapter is deleted. It is covered in adequate detail in the Foundation Core syllabus (Version 2018)
  • More information is available here.

This hands-on course provides test engineers with the ability to define and carry out the tasks required to put the test strategy into action and is ideal for testers and test teams preparing for certification.
