The training, based on the ITIL® 4 framework, provides strategic and practical guidance to help organisations understand the value of business relationship management and the key concepts and challenges.

Practitioners need to be able to use these concepts to ensure a return on investment in digital technology, to develop service relationship models and to apply them effectively.

Business relationship management activities are embedded in the organisation's service value streams, using a holistic and end-to-end approach.

The Business Relationship Management training is intended for IT service management professionals who are involved in building and maintaining relationships between Service Providers and Customer organisations, as well as between stakeholders and other interested parties involved in IT services.

ITIL® 4 Foundation certification

Business Relationship Management (BRM) is most likely one of the most important service management practice, but experience shows that it is rarely among the most advanced.

In essence, an IT Service Provider cannot exist without good relationships with business sponsors and customers that are established and maintained on an ongoing basis, and yet, the management of these business relationships is often inadequate.

Despite the common approach that IT and business should always work together as strategic partners, the reality is that the different business organisations need different types of service relationships with IT service providers.

A shared understanding of the role of digital technology in the broader business sense is a key driver of these service relationships, even if its role may not be a strategic one.

Business Relationship Management training helps and supports you to develop better service relationships between the business and the (internal) IT service providers.

The knowledge gained from the training can be used to good effect in all three types of service partnerships, namely basic relationships, higher level service partnerships and strategic partnerships at the highest level.

The course has the following learning outcomes: 

  • The activities, roles, responsibilities, professional knowledge and skills identified in establishing and maintaining business relationships.
  • What needs to be done to ensure that stakeholders and interested parties understand the strategic and operational requirements to create value and achieve business objectives.
  • An overview of Business Relationship Management's practice's success factors and supporting metrics to improve performance.
  • Measure, analyse and develop BRM methodological capabilities using the ITIL® Maturity Model.

The course is structured following the ITIL® 4 service dimension approach:

  • Value Streams and Processes - BRM activities and workflows and their integration into service provider value streams.
  • Organizations and People - key competencies and roles of BRM and possible organizational solutions to support the methodology.
  • Information and technology - inputs and outputs of the methodology and typical automation processes used in BRM.
  • Partners and suppliers - dependencies on third parties and how suppliers can support the BRM methodology.

 

This course incorporates a combination of an instructor-led training as well as remote monitored qualification exam. The ITIL® 4 Specialist BRM certification can be obtained online at a preferred date and time after attending the instructor-led training.

The ITIL® 4 Specialist BRM certificate has an expiry period of 3 years.
